There has never been a better time to straighten your smile. Orthodontics has come a long way and the options available for treatment these days are discreet, comfortable and highly effective.
Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth and can remove when needed – When you want to eat or brush your teeth for example.
Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
Having a correctly aligned bite is crucial to your dental health. Most dentists agree that a better bite helps your teeth withstand biting forces so they last a lot longer. Also, a person with a better bite is much less likely to clench and grind their teeth, or to develop symptoms of TMJ such as head, neck and facial pain.
If your bite needs to be corrected, clear braces are a terrific choice. Also known as ceramic or tooth-colored braces, clear braces blend in naturally with your teeth making them barely noticeable. They are much more discreet then metal braces and much less irritating to your mouth. For some people it’s even possible to have the braces on the back of the teeth instead of on the front so that there is absolutely nothing visible!
Damon is a state-of-the-art system designed to help the teeth move comfortably and super efficiently in order to minimize the time of treatment.
Most braces use elastics or active clips that bind archwires in place which can slow down treatment and cause discomfort. The Damon system uses tieless braces that don’t need to be “tightened” and are gentle to the teeth. That means both greater comfort for you and less time at the office for follow-up visits.
Damon offers a clear option as well so you can ensure that your braces are barely visible.
In addition to having crooked teeth or spaces some people also have very dark teeth, old discolored fillings or other cosmetic issues they want to fix like worn or chipped teeth.
If your teeth need to be restored and straightened at the same time porcelain veneers are a fantastic option. They are a very fast way to make your smile look nicer without actually moving your teeth. We can do a complete smile make over in just two weeks!
Porcelain veneers and crowns are offered by the cosmetics team at our sister practice, Dental Care of Stamford which is conveniently located right upstairs.
I chose to get orthodontics because my bottom teeth were very crooked and I felt that over time they would only gradually get worse. I wanted straight perfect teeth before I graduated college so that was the decision I made to come here and get the procedure done with Dr. Pete who I really enjoy and who has taken very good care of me. I definitely recommend it to others.
I had a space in the front of my teeth and I always promised myself I would fix it. I didn't know which dentist to go. From the first call the staff on the line were very helpful and I felt comfortable. So I came and had a consultation with Dr. Scher and I even felt more comfortable so I knew that this was the place I wanted to be. I'm quite pleased. I've been through treatment now for 9 months and my spaces are closing up. The atmosphere, the staff, the receptionists, Dr. Scher, they are so friendly. I would recommend Dental Care of Stamford Orthodontics, anytime to anyone for anything.
